Discover La Tuque
In the Mauricie region, the municipality of La Tuque is nicknamed the Forest City because its forest area is so vast. More than 4000 cottages are linked to resort leases, and there are about sixty outfitters and nine zones of controlled exploitation (ZEC). Its many lakes and rivers make it a paradise for hunting and fishing enthusiasts, and, of course, for outdoor enthusiasts who are faced with hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails, mountain biking, quads and snowmobiles.
The city centre of La Tuque is very lively with its restaurants, bars, and pubs. There are parks for the family and a BMX track. A yacht club is located at the marina. And two steps away, you will find 13 ski slopes, 9 of which are lit for evening skiing.
The Falls Park Petite-Rivière Bostonnais is at the entrance of the city. It is distinguished by its dramatic fall of 30 metres, located at the entrance of the park. Perfect for picnicking or hiking, the park will take you to its 20-meter observation tower. A spectacular view awaits you on the majestic St-Maurice river and the Petite rivière Bostonnais. The Park also offers a park interpretation centre, the Félix-Leclerc Circuit, the Fur Trade Interpretation Center and the Coureur des bois circuit, the Nature Interpretation Center, the exhibition of the photographs of recreational tourism activities, the Saint-Maurice River Interpretation Center and the Anne-Stillman-McCormick Centre. The tourist area of La Tuque located near the city offers a wide range of activities for all: fishing, hunting, ski touring, snowshoeing, hiking, sledding, swimming.
In order to learn more about Aboriginal culture, the Notcimik Estate does this by offering participatory and experiential cultural events and activities of all kinds. It is also a haven of nature offering outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, trout fishing, swimming, canoeing or pedal boating in the forest and Notcimik Lake.
Several trails in the Mauricie region for hiking are close to downtown La Tuque and snowmobile trails. After so many outdoor activities find your cottage to rent to regain strength for the next day.
