The "Kekkilä Garden Shed" is the product of a design by architect City Hara and designer Linda Bergroth. This is a unique prefabricated garden shed that combines a greenhouse and storage space in a ready-to-assemble kit. It can be assembled in the field using only a screwdriver. The Garden Shed is made from Finnish pine and safety glass and is equipped with automatic openings to control the temperature inside.
The shelter has been designed to fit into the Scandinavian landscape. It has a traditional gabled roof typical of this region due to the weather conditions. The shelter is delivered in natural wood and can be painted according to the tastes or surrounding environment. The wall elements function as a support for folding shelves. Glass shelves for the greenhouse allow the sun to join all the plants and wooden shelves in two sizes for a more convenient storage.
At the end of the season, when garden furniture and large tools need to be brought indoors, the shelves can be folded to maximize floor space. The double doors in the storage section were inspired by the old multi-storey stitching boxes that allow you to see all the contents with a simple gesture. Large doors allow natural light to enter and allow you to see and reach everything very easily.
