The recent slump of the Canadian dollar has made holidays in Quebec more attractive than ever this year. American and European visitors are taking advantage of their increased buying power to find new destinations for their precious time off. Inversely, Quebec residents are choosing to stay closer to home for their holidays in the hopes of avoiding unfavourable exchange rates. As a result, even though the average prices have increased a bit, spending a few days in a cozy Quebec cottage is still an increasingly attractive option for many holidaymakers.

Whether you are the owner or potential renter of such a cottage, knowing how much people are spending, on average, to rent properties in Quebec for a weekend or a full week can certainly come in handy to help you get the best possible deal.

Here, then, are the most recent average rates for cottage rentals, broken down by region, by length of stay, and by time of year:

You will notice that prices increase slightly over the high season (which includes the holidays, summer vacation, school break, and certain statutory holidays). Furthermore, compared to 2015, this year's prices have gone up by about 5–10% for the low season and about 10–15% for the high season. In Charlevoix, organic growth cannot account for the full 25% increase recorded this year; the arrival of several new high-end rental properties on the market has also contributed to helping raise the entire region's rates.

In any case, you should never forget: cost is an important factor to consider when researching cottage rentals. But there are plenty of other ones that can influence the price of a cottage rental that you should also keep in mind. And that holds true whether you are an owner or a renter!
